Reading- We read a realistic fiction selection titled, "Loved Best."  Our focus skills were context clues and plot. Spelling- consonant -le words. Grammar- singular and plural possessive. Tonight is Parent - Teacher Conferences from 5-8.  There will be no school tomorrow or all next week. I hope everyone enjoys their time off. Have a great Thanksgiving.

Ready for a new week and a new theme in reading.  Last week was a review week in reading.  We reviewed all skills in Theme 1 including phonics and grammar skills. Students were assessed on Friday.  This week's focus skill in reading is Fact and Opinion. The spelling skill is making compound words, and the grammar skill is compound sentences.

                        Reading/Language Arts   This week has been a very busy week in 3rd grade.  Since it was a short week we had to get everything done in 4 days. Reading/Language Arts.   We read an expository nonfiction selection this week titled, Schools Around the World. We researched and discussed different types of schools  and why students attend those schools.  We used a Venn Diagram to compare and contrast different types of schools with schools in our area. The skills we worked on were narrative elements and locating information in a book.  We also continued using a dictionary to find important information about a given word. The Grammar…
