Where Learning Is An Adventure
This is our last full week of school. This week we have been reviewing many things we have learned this year. Colors,
shapes, letter and sound recognition, number recognition, words we learned and several other things. During center time we got in groups and created buildings built out of building blocks. This week our theme was "Wonderful Water". We have had a lot of fun doing little activities with water. One of their favorites was doing our bubble activity. Our magic letter this week was the letter Jj along with reviewing all of our letters we've already learned. We have had a great week learning all about "The Garden". We learned our theme song "Plant some seeds as well as sang lots of other songs. We watched videos on the planting process and how the roots grow from seeds.

This week our theme was Space/NIght/Day. Our theme song was Mr. Sun. For our vocabulary words we added night, sleep, dark, day, stars, moon, sun, and planets. For our phonological awareness we did onset rhyme blending. For letter/sound recognition we learned the letter Yy, and reviewed the number 1-10. For our shared writing we named things we do during the day and night. We read several books like: How the Sky Got its Stars, The Solar System and What Makes Day and Night.

This week our theme was "Weather". For our theme song we sang "What's the Weather?" We watched videos of the different kinds of clouds, rain and thunderstorms, tornadoes, hurricanes, hail storms, sandstorm and snow. This has been a fun 4 day week. This week we studies "Backyard Creatures". We talked all about ants, bees, grasshoppers, katydids, frogs, ladybugs and other insects. Our magic letter this week was the letter /Ii/ and we continued to work on thyming words as well as silly/nonsense rhyming words. We made caterpillars and dyed Easter eggs in art, watched one of our chicks hatch and on Thursday we had the priviledge to watch Howe's "Mane Attraction" perform. Wow! This has been a fun week learning all about the "OCEAN". We have learned about so many different kinds of ocean life. Two of the favorites of the class this week was, the Norwhal whales and the seaweed dragon. I have been very impressed with how much information my kiddos have had about these ocean animals. We have had an exciting week this week starting with Dr. Seuss's birthday. Monday, "The Cat in the Hat" came in and
read "Green Eggs and Ham", and we also got to eat green eggs and ham. Some of the kids said "We don't like that", but when they tasted it, they loved it. This week has been a short week because of the snow. Our unit for the week was on Zoo Animals. We studied the letter /Kk/ this week, it's recognition and sound and reviewed our numbers 1-10. We played our Big Dice Game, "What's my Number". They love this. We discussed lions, tigers, reptiles, birds, and fish, elephants, zebras, giraffes and more. Wow!!!! What an exciting and fun week we had had. It's hard to know where to start. Another great week on the farm.
This has been a short week due to having Monday off, so we've had to cover a lot of farm animals this week. We learned all about the cow, the pig, the duck and of course our precious little chicks. This has been a busy, fun week for my munchkins. Our theme this week was "Growing Up". Our magic letter this week was E/e and we sang our songs about the letter E and the color white. This week have learned all about our "Forest Animals Unit". We have learned about bears, birds, deer, squirrels, chipmunks, rabbits, raccoons, frogs and mice. We have learned what they look like, where they live, what foods they eat and how they take care of their babies.

This week our theme was "WINTER". We discussed a lot about what clothes we should wear in the winter and did a graph on Winter clothing vs. Summer clothing. Our vocabulary words were: winter, snow, cold, hat, scarf, boots and gloves.

This week our theme was "Neighborhood". We learned about place in our community like Post office, library, school, stores, etc. This week we reviewed the A/R/L/M and D. The last two weeks have been full of fun, learning and exploring new things. Last Monday PreK headed for the Wild things Farm to the Pumpkin Patch. The children enjoyed every minute there. On Tuesday, the Howe Fire Department
came and talked with the students about Fire Safety. They showed and explained what the fire trucks do, demonstrated the water hose and blew the sirens. The children were very intrigued and loved it.
